We love e-mail. If you ever have any questions regarding the SEC, NCAA recruiting rules, or a general sports question, we will always do our best to help you out. I received this e-mail yesterday:
"Football recruiting is confusing as heck. What are the different time periods that are used and what are some of the loop holes".
---J.M. Anniston, Alabama
OK, J.M., that's an excellent question!
In the NCAA recruiting season (which ends with National Signing Day on February 3rd), there are four distinct, solid 'periods' that are well defined: no comments
Todd Grantham, UGA's newest Defensive Coordinator, has his work cut out for him. Grantham, the Dallas Cowboy's former defensive line coach, was named last week.
Georgia fans have shown a mixed reaction to the hire. While many UGA faithful are still trying to get the Willie Martinez memories out of their mind, many wonder if Grantham will stay in Athens for the long haul.
In our opinion, Grantham is a solid coach. His history shows that he knows how to coach-up talent and he will show immediate success for the Bulldogs. Outside of coaching in the NFL, Grantham has never been in a position to coach the level of players that UGA will be able to land.
Who is Todd Grantham and what is his coaching resume?
Todd Grantham is originally from Pulaski, Virginia and is a Virginia Tech alum.
Coaching History:
1990-1995: Virginia Tech Defensive position, line coach (DE, ILB, DT)
1993-1995: Defensive Line Coach
Highlights: In his final season with the Hokies, was the defensive line coach of the nation's #1 rushing defense, #5 scoring defense, and #10 total defense. The Hokies had 50 sacks that season while winning the Big East and Sugar Bowl.

Former UT head coach Lane Kiffin had better pray the rumors are not true. As fast as the brash, young one departed Knoxville, the rumors are beginning to surface even faster. no comments

Apparently the coaching search/twitter circus is over. The University of Tennessee is set to name Lousiana Tech Head Coach/Athletic Director Derek Dooley as the next football coach at UT.
Dooley, son of legendary coach Vince Dooley, comes highly recommended by Alabama coach Nick Saban.
Compared to the 'name' coaches that UT sought, and subsequently turned down by, Dooley is a dark horse. no comments

This is more than stupid. Talk about taking a step backwards...Try 3 to 4 years to get
back to being a bad team at best. Goodbye Hammy...Hello fat Phil. What a letdown.
