I would like to thank the six lost souls that participated (along with me) in this year's bowl pick em. Also want to give a big shout out to the lurkers and readers that decided not to participate ... I just put two Pilot gas cards and a Ruby Tuesday gift certificate back into my wallet
We had a 'magical' number of 17 in the beginning ... get to that number and we would have ran a prize list. As with many things, it is what it is.
Also want to give AA from the Tony Basilio Show a shout out ... he is on the list 'somewhere' ... it is up to the living fan to figure out which one he is.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are your 2009 BCS National Champions ... like anyone believed that Texas truly had a chance. Seriously, the Longhorns? Why not Boise State? The way the National Title Game completed, it may as well been Long Beach State because the end result would not have been any different.
I realize that writing this the day after the game is looking in the rear view mirror; however, I had 'real world' items that took all of my available time ... my friends in the Knoxville market have heard me personally spouting the flowery words of why Bama would win the game by 18 points ... didn't miss it by much.
At the same time, my friends have also heard my rumblings regarding why we need a playoff in college football. It is past time. Like the previous popularity contest that was the AP Poll, the BCS has become another popularity contest. It is time for a change. no comments
Urban Meyer's tenure as head football coach of the Florida Gators has ended. Meyer, citing health and family reasons, announced earlier today that he would be stepping aside following the Gators Sugar Bowl game against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
With the departures of:
Urban Meyer
Defensive Coordinator Charlie Strong (to Louisville)
Wide Receivers Coach Billy Gonzales (to LSU)
and a rumored number of UF players (some are saying as many as 19) declaring early for the NFL draft ... where do the Gators go now?
The Tennessee Volunteers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies on New Year's Eve in the Chik-fil-A Bowl.
The Hokies opened up as 4.5 point favorites. The line has held steady & the game features a 49-point over/under.
As we normally do, and are quite sure our competition will begin to emulate, we have sought out the opinion from the opposing team's fans. The guys from The North Endzone (Bloguin team mates) came through & drove it out of the park.
Will the UT faithful let the fans of the Hokies get in the last bit of smack? NEZ brought it, that is for sure.
The 2009 college football season is winding down. As 2009 disappears in the rearview mirror and 2010 rises on the horizon, there are several coaches on next year's hot seat.
Who are these coaches and what have they done to deserve inclusion on our Coaches Hot Seat List?
Please note: This list is what it is ... it is my opinion and if you believe my opinion sucks, that is fine: put it in the comments and we'll talk about it because we are always up for solid conversation. Also, the indicated records are only the records the coach has compiled at that school.
What will get a football coach fired faster? A poor record or lost concession stand sales? If you said concession stand sales, then you would be correct. Money drives everything. If you want your coach canned simply do not show up to the game or if you do attend, don't buy anything. Fan apathy can be a killer. Don't believe me? Just ask Phillip Fulmer about that one. no comments
