The Dixon brothers of Rock Hill were among the prospects to visit USC Saturday. DL Gerald Jr. of Northwestern said he and his brother, DE Gerald of South Pointe, enjoyed their day with the Gamecock coaches. "It went good," he said. "I liked the new academic center. I talked to coach Lawing and coach Johnson. And I talked to (Rock Hill native) Tori Gurley." The brothers are handling their recruiting concurrently. They plan to visit some other schools together and they would like to sign with the same school. Both are favoring USC but plan to wait until after their senior seasons and after they take other visits to finalize their decisions. USC is the only offer right now for Dixon Jr. His brother also has offers from North Carolina, Michigan and Michigan State.
USC in good shape with Northwestern lineman
By Phil Kornblut
DL Roderick Byers (6-5 250) of Northwestern was at USC Saturday for junior day. He's been to USC several times and Saturday's visit was more of the same for him. "I didn't learn too much new, but I had fun," he said. "I talked with coach Johnson and coach Lawing. Coach Johnson showed me the depth chart and where I could play and where they need me. He said I could battle for playing time as a freshman." Byers said the Gamecocks are strong leaders right now but he won't make a final decision until early in his senior season. USC is his only offer right now but he's also hearing from Virginia Tech, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Miami, Tennessee, Virginia and Duke.

FL DE/LB already has several offers, one from USC
By Eric Guimaraes
DE/LB Ryan Shazier (6-2 201) of Plantation, FL has nine offers thus far including one from USC. The others are from Florida, FSU, Tennessee, Wisconsin, South Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Oklahoma. He is also hearing from Clemson, Georgia, LSU, UCLA, and Miami among others. He likes what he is hearing from USC. "I talk to Coach Jeep (Hunter) a lot and he says that they would like to use me as a hybrid, like they did with Eric Norwood," said Shazier. "He also told me that Steve Spurrier should still be there." Shazier has not taken in any junior days and is waiting for the summer to visit schools. "My mom is sick so it's kind of hard to go right now," he said. "I'm going to make a top ten list and visit five of those schools. I'll save the other five for official visits." As a junior, he had 87 tackles, 22 for loss, 19 1/2 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, one touchdown, and a blocked field goal attempt. Shazier says he has no favorites and everyone is even with him right now.

USC out front with Georgia safety
By Phil Kornblut
USC recently became the first offer for DB Rodney O'Neal (5-11 165) of Dublin, GA, and that move has the Gamecocks out front for the strong safety. "I like the way they (USC) fit my academics," O'Neal said. "If you want to play for coach Ward, you have to have your academics and go to class." O'Neal said he's not close to making a decision and wants to see what other offers come in. He will go to Georgia this weekend for a junior day. Georgia Tech also is showing interest. O'Neal said he grew up rooting for Georgia, but he said he would not commit immediately if offered by the Dogs. O'Neal has not been to any junior days yet, and he plans to attend one of USC's
summer camps.

Clowney not planning any visits for a while
By Phil Kornblut
South Pointe DE Jadeveon Clowney (6-6 240) attended USC's junior day last Saturday, and that will be his last football recruiting related visit for sometime. "I'm not going anywhere else right now," Clowney said. "The visit went well. I talked to a couple of the coaches. I talked to coach Johnson and coach Lawing for about 15 minutes. I saw the new facilities they have for the athletes." Downey said he's not picked up any new offers recently to add to the 25 he's sitting on. He said USC and Clemson are, of course, on his list. Outside of the state, he said he likes Alabama, LSU and UCLA right now. As for visiting Clemson, Clowney said that probably wouldn't happen until his senior season. He plans to make all five of his official visits before deciding. Clowney said there is no favorite with him right now.
