General SEC Articles
Apparently getting arrested (and subsequently released with all charges dropped) is enough to disqualify a player from making All SEC as a Freshman ... can anyone spot the one obvious player that is missing from this team?
While I am in no way condoning what this player did ... he was there ... but to be ignored from this list is ridiculous. no comments
There are ten SEC teams playing in post-season bowl games this year. No other FBS Conference has 83% of their teams bowl eligible. The SEC is favored in seven of ten games, but only one bowl game has an SEC team favored by more than 7.5 points (Sugar Bowl).
With many of the games scoping at 4.5 points (or less), the SEC will not win 70% of their bowl games ... it is still the best football conference in America, but we had a down year.

It is that time of year again. Come join us for the fifth annual Shutup Mike Bowl Challenge.
SECRivals.com has ran a bowl challenge pick em each year in honor of our founder Mike "Shutup Mike" Anderson.
We would be honored if you could join us this season and determine who the best college football picker out there is.
Of course, if you run a website, posting on your own site (and inviting more people into this) is completely up to you.
We are examining the potential of returning prizes to the mix, but that will be determined by participation amount.
Cutoff for entry is kick-off of the first bowl game on December 19th at 4:30pm
This year's bowl challenge will be held on PoolHost.com.
1) Simply go to PoolHost.com and register
2) After confirming your registration, log in and go to "user tools" ---> Join a Public Pool
3) Click on the College Football Bowl Photo
4) Scroll down the list until you find "SECRivals.com" as the pool ID
5) password for entry is "password" without the quotes
That is all there is to it.
The college bowl schedule has been determined and set. Where is your football team playing their bowl this year?
Taking a look at the actual match-ups versus our mid-November predictions, it is safe to say that we were on top of things once again. Who else out there projected Auburn in the Outback, LSU in the Capital One, and South Carolina in the PapaJohns.com bowl ... on November 16th?
Sure, we missed three of the ten bowl match-ups (from the SEC side) on our original projections and did miss some of the opponent match-ups ... but when you really get down to it, we had the guts to stick it out there while the competitors were belly aching that this stuff was too unpredictable ... nine days after we had made our own predictions.
SECRivals is still the most copied SEC blog on the internet. no comments
We were asked by our friends at BlueWorkHorse.com to participate in this year's Blogger Heisman Poll.
Not that we have an actual Heisman Ballot, because we do not, but if we did here is what our official Heisman Ballot would look like.
Keep in mind that there are zero break-a-way Heisman candidates this season. At some point during the regular season, every Heisman candidate had a poor performance that raised eye brows. While there are several very good players in college football this season, this has to be the most difficult Heisman Trophy to award.
If you were on the Heisman Ballot list, who are your top three and why are they in the order that you are selecting? Is it because the player is actually that good or is it because that is the best player in your region and you are a biased homer? It happens. no comments

I had the opportunity to sit down tonight with two great minds when it comes to college football. Aaron Torres (www.AaronTorres-Sports.com) and Allen Kenney (www.BlatantHomerism.com) know their stuff and know it well. I try to hold my end of the bargain up, but be warned, I do have a face for the radio and a voice made for the shower.
We literally covered the gamut in a marathon-esque podcast that covered almost 90 full minutes from start to finish: no comments
This is our first foray into attempting to select the SECRivals All SEC Team. If you feel that we left someone out or bumped someone too high, let us know by giving us a shout in the comments section.
Of course, as with any great idea, we received our inspiration from the great Brian Harbach of Scout.com

As you are reading this, there are still several backroom deals being cut ... don't you just love college bowl season?
Of course, people are constantly adjusting their college bowl projections .... here are our original picks that were made on November 16th ... over two weeks ago.
Once LSU has been released from BCS consideration, expect the dam to break and tons of announcements to be forth coming ... at least we are not (likely) going to have to wait until next week as we would have if Bama and Florida both were not undefeated. no comments
SECRivals will be hosting a live discussion on Talkshoe.com on Thursday December 3rd at 7:00pm EST. Joining myself will be Aaron Torres of ArronTorres-Sports.com.
Selected topics will include:
- SEC Championship Game Preview and Analysis
- The Heisman Trophy
- SEC Bowl Selections
- BCS Bowl Selections
Come on over, sign up (it's free) and join in the conversation. Unlike a lot of the pundits and talking heads out there, SECRivals believes in the Tony Basilio mantra of being the voice of the common fan ... we are fans just like you are, so come on over & call in and let your voice be heard.
On top of the ability to call in live, there is also a live chat function that allows everyone to haze the living crap out of us while we are streaming. If you miss it live, you can always download the podcast that is created.
