General SEC Articles

Nashville's Music City Bowl is currently in the fourth year of a four year contract. This year's bowl game will pit the fifth pick from the SEC against the fourth pick from the ACC.
We expect the potential for this year's line-up to be announced this week.

The Sunday before the SEC Championship Game, the opposing coaches perform a teleconference with the media. Here are excerpts from Coach Urban Meyer and Coach Nick Saban's conference call. no comments
Darrell is down with a virus, so here comes the deluded thoughts of an old man regarding the football from this past week.
Tennessee takes down Kentucky for the 25th straight time. Honestly, as a UT fan, I knew the Wildcats would give UT all they could handle. Going into the game, I was shocked that so many people picked against the Vols. Anyone that knows anything about football knows that a running game will win nine out of ten times.
Charlie Weiss ... he done yet? Anyone else sick of hearing about his butt? Let's get real. He had success at New England because he was videotaping his opponents' practices. Apparently he was incapable of getting that done at Notre Dame. Considering he came into Notre Dame such an aloof idiot, it's only fitting he leaves ND with his tail between his legs. 10-1 says he goes back to the NFL as an assistant and never re-enters the college game. no comments
What a mess the SEC is in. With guaranteed bowl contracts in place, the bowl selections are going to come down to a single category: money. Yes, that is correct, your favorite team (who incidentally has the same over all record as a team they beat) may receive the golden shaft this bowl season ... all for money.
Do not be shocked to see several teams receive their bids based on whether or not they can sell their ticket allotment.
Don't believe me? That is your right, but pull the wool out of your eyes for a moment to look at the log jam that is the SEC. Alabama and Florida know within two cities where they are going.
The winner of the SEC Championship game on December 5th will play for the BCS Title. The loser of the SEC Championship Game will play in the Sugar Bowl. Outside of these two front runners, the bowl bid game selection is strictly a guessing game.
Breaking News: Tennessee Vols receive bid to the Capital One Bowl ... no comments
Anthony Dixon rushed for 133 yards and in doing so set the school record single-season rushing mark. Chris Relf rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns as the Bulldogs left the number 20th rankes Rebs wondering what train hit them head on as Mississippi State rolled to a 41-27 victory.
What was supposed to be a victory lap for the Rebs and a trip to somewhere in central Florida come bowl time was not to be. All I can say is one hell of a game to State and "Who Let the Dogs Out."

Yep, these picks are late ... so sue me ... due to a rough work schedule and spending time with family ... and sleeping ... I think you get the picture. The weekly picks panel will be updated during the weekend ... I am still trying to recover from last night, sorry guys.
I still can not believe the regular season ends this weekend. At times it has flown by and at times (especially with Urban Meyer trying to crawl inside of Tim Tebow's facemask) it has seemed slow.
Last week: 5-1
Season: 73-15 (.8295)
Note: I do not feel 'that' confident with this week's picks, at all ... is this the week the bottom drops out?
Will the possibility of a rookie salary cap cause SEC football players such as Ryan Mallet or Eric Berry turn pro early?
As we approach the close of the 2009 college football season, there is still no definitive word whether or not the NFL will institute a rookie salary cap for the 2011 NFL draft. Personally, I am on the side of the veteran players: there needs to be a rookie salary cap in the NFL. no comments
