SEC Rivals Latest Posts

2010 nfl draftA record number of SEC football players have been selected in the 2010 NFL Draft.  With 49 players selected, the SEC easily eclipsed every conference in the nation in this year's draft.  To put the "49" into perspective, simply take a look at the other conference totals:
Big 10 - 34
Big 12 - 30
ACC - 31
Pac 10 - 29
Big East - 18

The SEC has had a field day thus far in the NFL draft.  The talent levels are obvious and with NFL teams snapping up SEC football players left and right, it should be obvious to everyone that the SEC is truly THE dominant league.  Brought to you by our brothers-in-arms against the Lame Stream Media, Talkn SEC ...

How did your team fare?  What picks do see as simply being the 'wrong move' by an NFL team?  How bad is your team going to miss the players that were drafted?

My quick, down and dirty breakdown of the 2010 NFL draft (don't get your feelings hurt):
Alabama:  Terrence Cody fell to about where he should have ... he is too heavy to be anything other than a run stopper ... I also question his ability to play at the NFL level ... Cody will no longer be running people over with sheer size ... the Chiefs stole Javier Arenas in the 2nd round ... Rolando McClain could not have gone to a more poorly managed team (poor guy).

Arkansas:  One draft pick?  and the pick was so late that it will likely never matter nor be remembered?

Auburn:  Two draft picks?  Wow....

Florida:  Seven draft picks in the first three rounds ... Tim Tebow was drafted as a poster child ... hate to say that, but it is true ... Brandon Spikes could not have fallen into a better situation ... the Patriots sorely need an Aaron Hernandez-type of player; how does he hold up physically in the NFL?  The Bengals wasted a pick on Dunlap in the 2nd round did the Patriots steal Jermaine Cunningham from the Benals the selection before?

Georgia:  Geno Atkins and Jeff Owens fell because of commitment questions from last season ... did the Titans go out on a limb in taking Rennie Curran?  Curran is all heart and Jeff Fisher has had tons of luck with talent like that.

Kentucky:  How lucky were the Eagles that Trevard Lindley was still on the board in the 4th round?

LSU:  The Panthers got a solid player in Brandon LaFell, but can he handle the pressure-man coverage?  Chad Jones went deeper than I would have imagined.

Miss State:  Two picks ... bout all I can say due to the depth they were selected.  Would like to think Dixon has a shot, but he is more than a step slow for the NFL.

Ole Miss:  The Dolphins got a heck of a pick up in John Jerry and especially for the money.

South Carolina:  Eric Norwood was a 4th round steal.

Tennessee:  Dan Williams made out like a bandit ... first round money and gets to play for the Cardinals where he will rarely ever see a double team.  The Colts wasted a pick on Jacques McClendon.  Crompton was drafted?  Really?

Vanderbilt:  Myron Lewis is better than several guys who went ahead of him at his position.
