Here it is ... the remainder of week one ... as normal, I am pushed for time, so let's grab it and go.
Alabama Tide vs San Jose State: Honestly? The ball is going to be ran so much in this game by Alabama, the game could be one of the shortest in recent memory. Bama should easily cover the 37.5 point spread ....
Tide 48
SJSU 6
Auburn Tigers vs Arkansas State: Seriously? At least Cam Newton gets another scrimmage before starting their season. Auburn should cover the 31 point spread.
Auburn 42
Arky State 10
Arkansas Razorbacks vs Tennessee Tech: The only question is does Ryan Mallet throw for 4, 5, or 6 TD's?
Arkansas 51
TTU 13
LSU Tigers vs North Carolina: I have struggled with this game ... my SEC homerism automatically has me picking LSU ... UNC is definitely not a push over ... BUT, I do have a feeling LSU is a better team than many want to believe ... Can Jefferson step into the pocket though? The spread has moved from a pick to LSU being favored by 7.5 points due to the suspensions and scandal at UNC ... taking LSU to win, but not cover.
LSU 20
UNC 17 OT
Ole Miss Rebels vs Jacksonville State: No line ... not much of a game ... how does Ole Miss come out? Are they excited to see the season start or do they look across the line of scrimmage and roll their eyes? Ole Miss has a TON of questions at quarterback, but has a solid nucleus ... expectations are building on Houston Nutt ... for him, that is a bad thing.
Ole Miss 27
JSU 14
Miss State Bulldogs vs Memphis Tigers: MSU is garnering respect from Vegas as they are 21 point favorites over the visiting Tigers. MSU's offense should be improved even though they lost a stud running back ... Memphis could be better than expected due to the new coaching staff ... but not this season.
MSU 30
Memphis 17
Florida Gators vs Miami OH: Florida's primary worry will be at left tackle. John Brantley, if he lives up to expectations, should impress more than a few people ... it is Miami of OHIO ... look for UF to use a solid run/pass mix as they easily vault past the 36.5 point spread ... in four of the previous six openers, UF has scored 49+ points
Florida 55
Miami Oh 14
Georgia Bulldogs vs Louisiana: UGA gets another scrimmage before the season begins ... good thing for the Ealey-less Dawgs ... but still only 28.5 point favorites at home?
Georgia 38
La Laffy 7
Tennessee Vols vs UT Martin: No line ... because of the competition or because no one knows what to expect? UT's offense will be better than expected ... defensively, this team needed this game to build their confidence.
UT 44
the other white meat 14
Kentucky Wildcats vs Louisville: Charlie Strong is a solid defensive mind ... does he have the players to play his defense? This has been one of the most difficult games to pick ... my gut automatically says UK, but Strong could throw some stuff at Kentucky that they are not expecting ... only a 3 point spread ... honestly, this game could go either way, but I believe UK actually has more talent and new HC Joker Phillips has a LOT to prove ... man, 49 points on the over/under .... can the score really get that high? Last season was 31-27. Gut says UK, head says U of L .... going with gut on this one and it might be a mistake.
Kentucky 24
U of L 23
Vanderbilt Commodores vs Northwestern: Bobby Johnson could not have left at a better time ... Gonna be a long season for Vandy as they float back to the bottom of the SEC East.
Northwestern 21
Vandy 13
