Cam NewtonAnother year, another National Championship for the SEC.  Come on haters, keep yelling that Oregon was "that close", that Boise State still deserves a shot, or that TCU really has the best team in the nation.  Keep talking it and we will keep adding hardware to Southeastern Conference trophy cases.

While it is cool to root for the "little guy" ... facts are facts ... your conference <insert name here> is no better than 2nd best ... the SEC rules the roost.
It sucks to see it everywhere you look, online and offline.  Yes, the SEC is (again) the best conference in the nation.

My hat is off to the Oregon Ducks though, that team is loaded and could have won the BCS Title last night, but as in years past, Auburn would simply not be denied.

Five in a row ... nine since 1996 ... do the math ... I mean, honestly, what else is there to say?

In that span, the SEC has outmatched three of the other five BCS conferences ... the ACC, the Big 10, and the Pac 10.

Bring your statistics, bring your hyperbole, and to be completely honest, you are going to have to bring your bullshit while you are at it because no matter how you look at it, at the end of the day, we all know which conference is the best.

... and just think ... this was a down year for the SEC.  no comments

In typical AU Tigers fashion ... fall behind early, tighten down late ... come back and win.  AU 28  Crimson Tide 27.

If you are looking for a breakdown of the game, then keep trucking.  Lord knows there will be enough of it out there.  There are only two burning questions remaining for the Auburn Tigers:

Can the Tigers take down the South Carolina Gamecocks to secure their trip to the BCS Title game?  Will the Cam Newton allegations go unfounded a la Reggie Bush?

One thing is for certain ... this year's SEC Championship Game will be entertaining.  The dead then alive Auburn offense versus the Gamecock defense that prides itself on stopping the run.  Auburn can not miss a beat in the SECCG ... not a single beat.  While the SC Gamecocks are not world beaters by any stretch of the imagination, their defense is solid ... perhaps the best defense that AU will have faced all season.

On the flip side, Steve Spurrier is licking his chops while watching the Auburn Tigers on film.  Stop one man on offense and you limit the majority of the offense ... ONE MAN.  He might be the $180,000 man, but hey, that's cheap by most standards.  At the same time, everyone should wholly expect Spurrier not to deviate from what got his team to the title game:  run the ball with Marcus Lattimore ... throw the ball enough to keep the defense honest.

On a personal note, we have yet to see the "old Errict Rhett flea flicker" ... how cool would it be for that play to be installed for the SEC title game?  One thing is for certain, I would bet dollars to donuts that the receivers would be wide open.

Auburn has to be able to effectively pass the ball against the Gamecocks.  While Newton may be able to single handedly take the Cocks off of their pedestal, it would be much easier for him to utilize the team around him.  ... but that's common sense thinking ... of course, we all know that he will likely be a one-man show again.

No matter how you (or anyone else) looks at it ... the Cam Newton to Mississippi State debacle has traction ... lots of traction ... enough traction that it is being investigated on a Federal level ... but I don't know which is worse ... the potential that Cam Newton's (Reverend) actually asked for money (if true) or the fact that the cover up was so poorly performed.

Let's face it ... we all know it exists ... we all know that over zealous boosters are willing and able to sway decisions with cars, easier educations, money, and in some cases, women.  It happens.  You know it.  I know it.  And apparently Cam Newton's own Dad knows it.  It happens.  It is a dark side to collegiate sports, but to ignore it's existence is either pure naivette or stupidity.

So is Cam and/or his father on the dole?  Did Newton have an easier educational ride while playing for the Florida Gators?  At this point, it is still up in the air ... but I would not be shocked to hear the truth after Cam Newton leaves Auburn ... which might be sooner rather than later.

At any rate ... we are looking for AU to open up as about 2.5 point favorites ...
